Health Coverage Deadlines:
What to Know for Marketplace and Medicare Enrollment
Fall isn’t just pumpkin spice season—it’s also open enrollment season. Whether you’re applying through the Marketplace or reviewing Medicare options, Q4 is filled with important deadlines that impact your 2026 coverage.
ACA Marketplace Coverage
The open enrollment period for health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) begins November 1, 2025 and runs through January 15, 2026. If you want your coverage to begin January 1, 2026, you’ll need to enroll by December 15, 2025. This is also a great time to compare plans, check subsidies, and ensure your coverage still aligns with your needs.
Medicare Open Enrollment
For those 65 and older, Medicare open enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7, 2025. This is your window to review your current coverage, switch plans, or add a prescription drug plan (Part D). Even if you’re happy with your plan, it’s wise to check for premium or coverage changes for the upcoming year.
